RAISED UP

“The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.”

Psalm 145:14 ESV

My soul clings to you, your right hand upholds me

You uphold the universe by the power of your word

Though I may fall, I am not lost, such is your mercy

Awesome is the holy radiance of your glory, O Lord!

You have freely gifted me the shield of your salvation

Your right hand supports me with gentleness and grace

I am rescued by your precious blood and resurrection

My stony heart is ever transformed to sing your praise!

You open the eyes of the blind, lift up the bowed down

How great you are, your understanding beyond measure

Only in you are righteousness and steadfast love found

My hope is in your Word, promising heavenly treasure!

You raise me up again and again to exalt you evermore

Restore to me your great joy and give me a willing spirit

Praising the majestic splendor of my Lord, whom I adore

Jesus, your way is truth and life, to you my soul I commit!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
