“Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.”
Isaiah 55:3 ESV
I call upon you, O God, for you will answer me
You are my rock of refuge, rescue me speedily
Incline your ear to me, in righteousness deliver me
Answer me, save me, for I am poor and needy
Let my prayer come before you, hear my cry
Open my eyes to see your light, to this hope I cling
I love you Lord, I will call on you all of my life
Gift me wisdom, incline my heart to understanding
I read your accords with Noah, Abraham, Moses and David
O Lord, I praise you for the assurance to which I hold fast
Behold the better covenant of grace by which I am saved
The everlasting pledge of Christ Jesus, sure and steadfast
My risen Savior is the author of this new covenant with me
By your blood you set me ever free from the bonds of sin
I will not forget your faithful love and matchless mercy
Make me a servant of all, that many more souls you win
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
