THE TRUE LIGHT

“Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.”

Psalm 112:4 ESV

Behold the true light has come into the world!

For our works were evil and we loved the darkness

The light of the world is the light of life, Christ the Lord!

Believe in the light and become sons of righteousness

In Christ Jesus is life and this life is the light of men

His grace all sufficient, his power perfected in weakness

By grace we have been saved by faith in the great I Am

Draw near his throne and receive mercy and forgiveness

Oh the mercy that led to our salvation at the Cross

Where the only righteous One died for steadfast love

The Redeemer of our souls loving us to the uttermost

Our hope and our refuge, our promise from above

Behold the empty tomb where his stricken body laid

Now there is abundant life awaiting at his right hand

Jesus has conquered death, our just penalty ever stayed

Take hold his nail-pierced hands leading us to Mount Zion

and praise him forevermore!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
