“AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD”

“Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.”

Psalm 114:7-8 ESV

Jesus cried out with a loud voice and took his last breath

Behold the Lamb, tremble before him all the earth!

With thanksgiving let us come into his presence

Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness!

Make a joyful noise, blow the trumpet in Zion!

Sound the alarm on this his holy mountain

Tremble all unworthy inhabitants of the land

For the day of the Lord is coming, it is at hand!

He stands before us as the true rock that was split

“You shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it”

A spring wells up to eternal life gifted by the Son of man

Come drink of this living water and never thirst again!

Death is defeated, our sins forgiven by saving grace!

Behold on the third day there was a great earthquake

An angel descended from heaven to roll back the stone

Our Redeemer, the Christ, arose to make us his very own!

“Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness

Tremble before him, all the earth!”

(Exodus 17:6, Psalm 96:9)

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
