LEGACY OF LOVE

“O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord.” Psalm 116:16-17 ESV

O Lord, please accept this sacrifice of thanksgiving

As I sing praises continually to your light as an offering

Make your face ever shine on your unworthy servant

Saved by grace in your love, steadfast and fervent

Please hear this hopeful prayer and my earnest plea

Grant me understanding that I may know your testimony

In your living word I find guidance, joyful truth and life

Ever thankful for the legacy of love that led me to the light

To know you is to know the truth that sets sinners free

When the Redeemer sets one free, one is free indeed

I am set free from the bonds of sin to be a slave of righteousness

The King of kings, the crucified and risen Lord, Christ Jesus

Accept this thanksgiving of praise for though I was a slave to sin

You have made me obedient from my heart to the Son of Man

May the exaltation of my heart and lips always bring glory to you

Only in your everlasting arms do I find perfect peace and refuge!

Amen

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
