THE HUNDREDTH

“I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.”     Psalm 119:176 ESV

All we like sheep have gone astray

No one does good, not even one

Everyone has turned to his own way

Only he is righteous, the King on Zion

Christ Jesus is the great shepherd

Who lays down his life for the sheep

Dying on the Cross, he is the risen Lord

I pray the Overseer my soul to keep

Jesus is the true light, the light of life

Full of grace, righteous in every way

Surely his goodness shall be mine

I will dwell in his house all my days

My shepherd provides everything I need

All his rescued sheep hear his voice

By calm waters, on holy paths he leads

Overwhelmed by joy, I will always rejoice!

Once I strayed like a lost sheep rejecting love

I have returned to the Guardian of my soul

God sent his beloved Son and he is enough!

By his blood he redeemed me to his chosen fold!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
